The Scoop

Oh wow. Three years since the last post, and four years since this blog was alive and active. Time sure flies. If you ever followed this blog, then you probably gave up on it a long time ago. So if for some strange reason you happen to read this, I must say, I’m sure glad to see you again! :-)

My multiple attempts to revive “My Life With Bad English” ended with a huge question mark. The thing is, in four months of its active life this blog generated nearly half a million views. Take in consideration the fact that all my posts were in QuickTime format (which is far less popular than videos we watch on YouTube daily), so many users most likely had to install the necessary software in order to be able to watch them. It became clear to me that the subject had some genuine interest and was well worth pursuing. So after three followup episodes (that I never posted) I decided to pull the plug on this videoblog and create something much bigger out of all my stories. With the help of my film school friends, the new project is slowly approaching its start line. It will probably take another year before we start working on it “full time”, because this new endeavor brought a set of new standards that must be met in order for the project to be successful. So no, I did not fail to fulfill my promise to tell more stories. You’ll hear them all, and it’s going to be far more enjoyable than sitting in front of a computer and watching my talking head in a static shot.

While I’m here I might as well tell you what I’ve been up to in the past three years. After graduating from film school I've been working as a film and video editor. One of the films I worked on has been recently released on DVD and it was written up in several major newspapers, including New York Times. Take a look if interested:

And here’s another fun project that I’ve been working on. It’s called “Larry Weekly”. The website has just been launched recently, and we have a series of fun episodes coming up in the next several weeks. Check it out, and please come back every Monday for a new episode:

That’s it for now. Hope this finds you all well and in good health. Stay tuned, and see you soon!

  • Get this. While reading a book in English (the new J.K. Rowling, only ~ my 5th in the language) I had begun whispering along, stretching the legs of my "received pronunciation" (since it's a VERY England-focused novel and I watch the BBC all the time), when out of nowhere, this vlog popped into my head, including a clear image of what you look like. Save for a one-time wonder-where-he's-at years ago I haven't been here in what must be a lustrum (word of the day!), but I happily report I remembered your blog's address with no hesitation or guessing whatsoever.

I didn't remember you used QuickTime though... You're right, these days that's grounds to boycott it; I wouldn't even watch Apple's keynotes on their website -- straight to YouTube.

Guess it would take a while for this to pick up steam again in terms of audience though... My bet would be to name the film after your blog, so the rest of your former viewers recognize it. After all, it's really not a bad title at any rate.

Cheers, and I know you know this, but your English has gotten *even* much better, even if this post took you hours. Is it even still worth mentioning...? You're indubitably past that now.
